Deputy Manager - Retail Health Underwriting

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Retail Health Underwriting Management

• Lead the team in underwriting Retail Health, Personal Accident & Travel proposals

• Ensure accurate and compliant underwriting within defined TATs

• Provide technical support and risk assessment on complex cases

• MIS & Compliance Reporting

• Process Non-Disclosure, Fraud, Audit, ISO, and IRDAI-related data

• Analyze underwriting trends and performance through dashboards and reports

• Prepare and validate critical MIS for management review

• Stakeholder & Communication Management

• Act as a key point of contact for internal/external stakeholders including branches, partners, and vendors

• Handle underwriting-related queries and support system process development

• System Enhancements & UAT

• Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new underwriting workflows

• Validate system enhancements and ensure alignment with underwriting policies

• Pre-Policy Activities & Vendor Coordination (Backup Role)

• Support empanelment of diagnostic centers and manage vendor relationships

• Oversee execution of pre-policy medical activities ensuring error-free processing

Required skills:

Functional Skills:

• In-depth understanding of underwriting principles in health, PA, and travel insurance

• Strong analytical skills and experience in MIS reporting

• Familiarity with IRDAI regulations and compliance frameworks

• Hands-on experience with core underwriting and online platforms

• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and maintain effective communication

• Attention to detail and adherence to defined turnaround times (TATs)
