Job Description: As the Department Head of Civil Engineering at our waste management company, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, construction, and maintenance of sheds and structures required for our waste management plant operations. This role requires a strong background in civil engineering, project management skills, and the ability to lead a team of skilled professionals to ensure the successful execution of projects within budget and on schedule. Develop comprehensive project plans for the construction and modification of sheds and structures in the waste management plant. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards. Lead the team in the efficient execution of projects, optimizing resource allocation and monitoring progress. Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other relevant professionals to create innovative and cost-effective designs for sheds and related structures. Ensure that all designs meet safety, environmental, and quality standards while considering sustainability principles. Prepare project budgets, cost estimates, and resource allocation plans. Monitor expenses and work closely with the finance department to control costs and maintain project profitability. Lead and mentor a team of civil engineers and construction professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work culture. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for skill development and training. Implement strict quality control measures to ensure the integrity and durability of constructed sheds. Ensure adherence to all relevant building codes, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines. Source and negotiate contracts with suppliers, vendors, and construction contractors. Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with project specifications and timelines. Identify potential risks and challenges in project execution and develop contingency plans to mitigate them. Address any issues that arise during construction promptly and effectively. Promote a strong safety culture within the department and on project sites, prioritizing the well-being of team members and contractors.
